SSG Keith R. Bishop, 28, died October 26, 2009 when the helicopter he was aboard crashed while conducting a combat mission in the city of Darreh-Ye Bum, Afghanistan while serving with Company B, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom July 2009 as a member of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan. This was his second deployment in support of the War on Terror. Bishop served in the Republic of Korea and in Ramadi, Iraq with HHC (Scouts), 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry.
SGT William Meeuwsen, 24, of El Paso, Texas, died November 23, 2005 in combat near Baghdad, Iraq. Meeuwsen was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Meeuwsen was stationed with the 1st Battalion 506th Infantry at Camp Greaves, Korea.
SSG Charles R. Browning, 31, of Tucson, Arizona, died June 1, 2007 in Mehtar Lam, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Browning was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 158th Infantry Regiment, Arizona Natinoal Guard, Gilbert, Arizona. Browning was stationed with D 1-506th at Camp Greaves, Korea from 1995-1996.
SSG Christopher L Brown, 26, of Columbus, Ohio, died April 3, 2012 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained after he was attacked with an improvised explosive device while on a dismounted patrol. Brown was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo. Brown was stationed with B 1-506th at Camp Greaves, Korea from 2003-2004. He deployed to Habbinyiah for OIF III deployment and redeployed to Fort Carson to 2-12IN.
SFC Jared Monti, of Raynham, MA, served as a forward observer assigned to Alpa Company, 1-506th at Camp Greaves, South Korea during 1996-1997. Jared was killed in action on June 21, 2006, while deployed with the 10th Mountain Division for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. White House announced on July 24th, 2009 that SFC Monti was awareded the Medal of Honor.
SSG Ioasa F. Tavae, Jr, 29, of Pago Pago, American Samoa, served with the "Bushmaster" Company, 506th Infantry Regiment at Camp Greaves, South Korea, in 1999-2001. He was killed on April 2, 2005 in Mosul, Iraq when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire. SSG Tavae, Jr was serving with the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Comabt Team, 25th Infnatry Division.
Major Douglas E. Sloan, served with the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment at Camp Greaves, South Korea, in 2001-2002. He was killed on October 31, 2006 by an improvised explosive device in Wygal Valley, Afghanistan while serving with the 10th Mountain Division.
SGT Matthew Ingram, served with D Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment at Camp Greaves, South Korea, in 2001-2002. He was killed on August 21, 2009 in Afghanistan while assigned to the 2-12 INF, 4BCT, 4th Infantry Division.
SGT Russell M. Durgin, 23, served with the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment at Camp Greaves, South Korea, was killed June 13, 2006, when his unit came under fire from enemy forces near Konegal, Afghanistan. SGT Durgin was an infantryman assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. In August 2003, he was reassigned to 1-32 Infantry and served with his unit in Iraq from September 2003 to September 2004.
Major Sid W.Brookshire served with the 1-506th Infantry at Camp Greaves, Korea, was assigned as the S-3 officer for the Desert Rogues of 1-64 Armor Battalion when he was KIA on June 20, 2007, while on patrol in Baghdad, Iraq.
SSG Jason R. Arnette, 24, Amelia, VA previously served with 1/506th Infantry Regiment, at Camp Greaves, South Korea, was killed on April 1, 2007 Iraq from an improvised explosive device. Arnette was assigned to th 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York when he was killed.
Maj. Jeffrey R. Calero, 34, a native of Puerto Rico and Queens New York, NY, previoulsy served with the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea as a rifle platoon leader and executive officer for 1/506th Infantry Regiment.was fatally wounded when he encountered an IED in the course of conducting a dismounted route clearance of a choke point during a combat reconnaissance patrol and resupply convoy. He was a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha detachment commander assigned to, ODA-2132, Company C, 1st Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) out of Springfield, Mass when he was killed.
SGT Trevor A. Blumberg, 22, of Canton, Mich previously served with A Company 1/506, was killed on September 14, 2004 in Baghdad, Iraq. Blumberg was on patrol when two improvised explosive devices struck his vehicle. Blumberg was assigned to 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. when he was killed.
SGT Robert M. Carr, 22, Warren Ohio previously served with HQ, C Company 1/506, was killed on March 13, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq. Carr was killed in an IED attack. Carr was assigned to the 2nd Bn, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infnatry Division when he was killed.
CSM Steven Faulkenberg, previously served with D Company 1/506 as 1st Sergeant, was killed on November 9, 2004 when he came under small arms fire while conducting combat operations in Fallujah, Iraq. Faulkenberg was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division when he was killed.
SGT Nicholes D. Golding who served with C Company 1st Battalion 506th Infantry in Korea was Killed in Action in Afghanistan while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. SGT Golding was killed in action on February 13, 2004 in Ghanzni, Afghanistan as a result of an AT-46 (anti-tank) mine explosion. He was assigned to Company C, 2/87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. SGT Golding was 24 years old.
SPC Jacob C. Palmatier, who servered in the Republic of Korea with the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, died Feb. 24 in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. Palmatier was assigned to 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Brigade, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.
Sgt. Joe Polo, who served in the 1st Platton, Alpha Company, 1/506th during his first tour in Iraq in 2004 - 2005, died March. 29, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. SGT Polo was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo. SGT Polo was 24 years old.
SGT Michael J. Martinez, who previously served in Ramadi, Iraq with 3rd Platoon, B Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, died June 28, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using improvised explosive devices. SGT Martinez was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
SSG Salamo J. Tuialuuluu, previously served with B Company 1/506, was killed on December 4, 2004 when his Stryker military vehicle received enemy fire during convoy operations in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division.
PFC Henry C. Risner, who served with A Company 1/506, was killed on August 18, 2004 when he came under small arms fire in the Sadr City section of Baghdad Iraq He was assigned to B Company, 2nd Bn, 14th Infantry Rgt, 10th Mountain Division.
SGT Jae S. Moon, who served in the Republic of Korea and in Ramadi, Iraq with the B Company 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, died Dec. 25, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle while on patrol Dec. 14 in Baghdad. Moon was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
