SSG Goodson and Parents

November 23, 2004 -- (L-R): Hoyt Bruce Moore, III (A Co, 1st BN, 506th, 1970-1971);
SSG Benjamin Goodson (B Co, 1994-1995; A Co, 2003-2004; B Co, 2004);
SSG Goodson's
mother Flo Lamb; and his stepfather Dale Lamb, both of whom had driven over from
Florida to be with him for Thanksgiving at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio,
TX. Bruce presented SSG Goodson with a 2004 Currahee Reunion T-Shirt.

SSG Goodson was injured in Iraq in October 2004, when he was hit by debris from a car
bomb which exploded after he had stepped outside of his HumVee. He was in an isolation
room, and his visitors had to wear protective gloves and gowns because he had also been
diagnosed with the blood infection that wounded soldiers were getting in Iraq.

Bruce also visited PFC Jose Barco (C Co, 1st BN; WIA 11/11/04) at BAMC and presented
him with a 2004 Currahee Reunion T-Shirt (no photo available).




SSG Goodson
December 4, 2004: Octavio Laguna (C Co, 2nd BN, 506th, 1964-1966) visited SSG Goodson
at BAMC and presented him with a Currahee coin and patch. SSG Goodson was clear of his
blood infection and was scheduled to be presented with a Purple Heart on December 14.
Octavio gave SSG Goodson information on the Military Order of the Purple Heart.



Denzel Washington
December 17, 2004: SSG Goodson meets Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington.
Denzel was invited by the Army to help recognize soldiers at BAMC as they recover from their injuries.

SPC Jordan and Parents
December 8, 2004: SPC Eric Jordan (C Co, 1st BN, 506th) with his father and mother,
Carrie Moore, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Eric survived
a truck rollover accident on November 10, 2004 in Iraq, and could not breathe or talk
after the accident.
