Presentation of Currahee Battle Flags
Fort Campbell, KY - July 27, 2010


Currahee Battle Flags were presented by the 506th Association to all 30 companies/troops/batteries, and
to the brigade and all battalion/squadron headquarters of the entire 4th Brigade Combat Team, 506th
Infantry, for their 2010-2011 deployment to Afghanistan. 506th Association President Don Thies (B Co,
2nd BN, 506th, 1970-1971)
recruited a group of Currahee veteran volunteers to present these flags after the
July 27, 2010 Color Casing Ceremony at Fort Campbell.

1-61st CAV

Holding the Currahee Battle Flag presented to the 1-61st CAV Squadron
Headquarters are (L): Buford Byers (B/HHC, 2nd BN, 506th, 1970-1971) and
(R): 506th Association President Don Thies (B Co, 2nd BN, 506th, 1970-1971).
Also in the group are more of the Currahee veterans who participated in
the Currahee Battle Flag presentations.

Second from the left in the photo, holding the flag presented to B Troop,

headquarters of the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.

Anyone may purchase one of these Currahee Battle Flags via US Mail from the
506th Association. ALL profits from the sale of these flags are donated to the
Widows, Orphans & Wounded Soldiers Fund.
