In May 1945, while Charles Craton, Jr. (C Co, 1st BN; H Co, 3rd BN, 506th PIR) was stationed
in the village of Berchtesgaden, he picked up the following photos of Adolph Hitler's 55th
55th birthday celebration in the dining room of The Berghof (Hitler's home at Berchtes-
gaden) on April 20, 1944. The Berghof was NOT the Eagle's Nest, Hitler's retreat built
on the top of Kehlstein Mountain, overlooking the Berchtesgaden area.
