14. JOIGNY - General view and the Vallée de l'Yonne

Our living quarters. It looks nice on a picture.
But it is the worst place I've ever lived in this Army.

The 506th PIR left Austria on August 1, 1945 and arrived in Joigny, France,
on August 3, and were billeted in an old French fort that looked like a prison.
