E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR veterans, along with family members and HBO Band of Brothers mini-series actors, gathered at the St. Regis Hotel, on the Avenue of the Stars in Los Angeles, for the 2002 Emmy Awards.

Afternoon Rehearsal
Cameras in the St. Regis Hotel Grand Ballroom were ready to broadcast on live TV the
reactions of Easy Company veterans if Band of Brothers won an Emmy, so in the after-
noon, everyone had to rehearse and were given instructions as to what to do and where
to sit. (Sitting at front L-R): Easy Company veterans Donald L. King, Roy E. Pickel,
and Robert L. Strayer.



Black Tie Dinner

A gala dinner was held in the St. Regis Hotel Grand Ballroom before the Emmy
Awards broadcast. All veterans were asked to be dressed in black tie since there
would be live TV shots of the veterans during the broadcast. (L-R): Easy Company

SFC(R) Clarence O. "Clancy" Lyall.



Watching the Emmys
Large screens in the Grand Ballroom enabled the Easy Company veterans
and family members to view the Emmy Awards broadcast.



Best Mini-Series Award

Band of Brothers wins the Emmy Award for Best Mini-Series.



Hanks, McDonough, & Winters
When Richard D. Winters went on-stage (together with producer/director Tom Hanks,
actor Neal McDonough, and others), Easy Company veterans gave him a standing ovation.
Winters acknowledged the members of Easy Company, including those who never came
home. He ended his speech with the words, "I salute you."



The following 39 Currahee PIR veterans attended the events, which included a
post-Emmy Awards party hosted by HBO at Spago Restaurant, Beverly Hills.
